As a self-taught artist, Alain’s ever-evolving style is a natural progression of divergent vision and originality. His classical and fantastical art has cemented his reputation as a true master in both human and animal form.
Alain served an apprenticeship with the nationally renowned sculptor, De L’esprie. The individual bronze monuments he sculpted alongside her currently reside in world famous California landmarks, including the Original Farmers Market.
As Head Sculptor at Hot Buttered Elves, Alain spearheaded a variety of projects. He lent his expertise to creating Hand Sculpting of Figures and Models, 3D Sculpting, Prototyping, and Creative Development and Engineering.
Currently, through his own company Alaindesign, Alain has been commissioned to work on projects ranging from Professional Artwork, to Digital Toy Prototyping for both National and International Companies.
A true renaissance artist, Alain works with a variety of mediums. His intriguing mixture of naturalism and surrealism imbue his work with an intense sensitivity that reaches deep into the dark and the light.
Mysterious, intricate, human abstracts… Distorted, esoteric, fantastic creatures … It’s the kind of art that dares to elicit emotional responses on multiple levels.
Born in Cuba, Alain immigrated to the United States as a child, and currently resides in California. Despite being labeled a natural, he reflects on how “I have never considered myself an artist; I’ve been labeled as an artist. What I do is enjoy my passion. Art is the thing that brings me the most joy in life. When doing my work I step into another world where I’m in complete control of everything.”
